I was on the way into the city today and encountered what I consider to be the biggest flagrant foul of all – someone pushing the button to get the pedestrian light. No, that’s not it. Try to maintain focus.

What burned me wasn’t the energy expended in the frantic button pushing, BUT the unabashed and illegal crossing of the street BEFORE the pedestrian light changed to green.

What’s that about? If you’re going to press the button, common courtesy requires you to stay and use that light to cross. I don’t care if you jaywalk, but do it without inconveniencing the rest of the universe. Seriously.

Those buttons are there for people who can obey the law. It’s simple. Press the button, use the pedestrian light. Ignore the button, do as you please.

I would like to pass a law allowing those of us with pellet guns and ripe tomatoes to pummel the button-presser-non-waiter. How do you feel?

I have a fairly strict “No Breakfast for Dinner” policy, I just find it weird. But, I do allow for breakfast to creep up into lunch hours.  I mean, someone invented the term “brunch” for a reason right? Today, Amy made some killer bacon, egg, and sharp cheddar cheese sandwiches on english muffins.

Important Note: For this sandwich to really work you need to go over easy on the eggs for yoke dunking purposes and you need a nice glass of orange juice.

I love sandwiches. Maybe that is why lunch is my favorite meal of the day. The list below is my top five favorite sandwiches. This list is just aching to be modified should I stumble upon a heavenly sandwich.

1. Chacarero (barbeque chicken extra hot) at Chaccarero in Downtown Crossing Boston. This is a Chilean sandwich not Texas BBQ. Toe curler!

2. The Monsta Lobsta BLT at The Red Parrot in Newport, RI.

3. Roast Beef Sub (with mayo, pickles and lettuce) at Green Gardens Liquor & Deli in Hyde Park, MA

4. Chicken Pesto on Foccacia at Ottimo in the Financial District Boston

5. The Mediterranian at Yada Yada in South Boston (This sandwich is most vulnerable to replacement because it’s no longer on the menu. Help me find a new number 5)

Venue: Square Cafe, Hingham, MA
Occasion: 3-yr Anniversary with @clownface3

Had fantastic Yellowfin Tuna last night at Square Cafe in Hingham. And that was only the appetizer. I DID make the mistake of gobbling the wasabi – and I HATE the feeling of wasabi – so I was appropriate punished for said gobbling.

I’ll apologize now for not getting photos. I don’t carry my iPhone into downtown Hingham because cell reception is HORRIBLE for all carriers and Hingham does not have Mesh Wifi yet. We might be named after a European city but we are lagging behind technologically.

Made a sandwich from this today for lunch. Started with a handful of the pastrami brisket on multi-grain, topped it with two slices of extra sharp cheddar and then tossed it in the toaster for a few. When the cheese was nice and melted I took it out, grabbed the spicy mustard and went to work.

This sandwich was very good. I got it warmed up which I think was definitely the right call. Cold pesto might have been a show stopper. The only negative was the lettuce, or whatever green that was, was a bit tough.
